Privacy Policy

Roof Space Australia is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Contact and identity details — name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses.
• Order information — the products you buy, order history, and any notes or delivery instructions you provide.
• Payment information — processed by our payment providers. We receive confirmation of payment and a masked card reference; we do not store your full card number.
• Enquiries and support — the content of emails, contact-form submissions, SMS and phone calls, including vehicle details you share so we can advise on fitment.
• Marketing preferences — whether you have subscribed to our newsletter.
• Dealer and trade applications — business name, ABN, trading details and contacts.
• Reviews and user content — anything you post or send us for publication.

Information we collect automatically

• Device and usage data — IP address, browser type and version, time zone, operating system, referring site, and the pages you view.
• Cookies and similar technologies — see section 7.

Information from third parties

We may receive information from our e-commerce platform, payment providers, freight carriers, review platforms, and advertising partners — for example, delivery status updates or fraud-screening results.

3. Why we collect it

We use personal information to:

• Process, fulfil and deliver your order, and communicate with you about it.
• Screen orders for fraud and verify payment.
• Provide customer support, warranty service and fitment advice.
• Manage returns, refunds and warranty claims.
• Send you marketing communications where you have asked to receive them.
• Improve our products, website, range and service.
• Meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

If you do not provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to process your order or provide the support you have requested.

4. Marketing communications

We only send marketing emails or SMS where you have opted in, or where you would reasonably expect them having bought from us. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option, and you can opt out at any time by clicking that link or emailing us. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages such as order and delivery updates.

5. Who we share it with

We disclose personal information only to the extent needed to run our business:

• E-commerce and hosting — our online store runs on Shopify, which stores order and customer data on our behalf.
• Payment providers — to process your payment and detect fraud.
• Freight and logistics carriers — your name, address and phone number, so they can deliver and arrange a delivery window.
• The manufacturer and our overseas parent operation in Germany — for warranty assessment, spare parts and technical support.
• Authorised dealers and installers — where you have asked to be connected with one, or where they are handling your installation or warranty work.
• Service providers — email, marketing, review, analytics, accounting and IT support providers, bound to use the information only for the services they provide us.
• Professional advisers and authorities — where required or authorised by law.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and Germany. Where we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small data files placed on your device. We use them to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and measure the effectiveness of our advertising.

• Essential cookies — required for the cart, checkout and security. The site will not work properly without them.
• Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages and products people engage with.
• Advertising cookies — may be used to show relevant Roof Space ads on other platforms.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will break parts of the site. Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal; because there is no consistent industry standard for responding to it, we do not currently alter our practices in response.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Order, tax and warranty records are generally kept for at least seven years. When information is no longer needed we destroy or de-identify it.

10. Access, correction and complaints

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Email us at sales@roofspace.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period, usually 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. In limited circumstances we may refuse access, in which case we will explain why.

You may also ask us to delete your personal information. We will do so unless we are required to keep it for legal, tax or warranty reasons.

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, contact us first at sales@roofspace.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

11. Children

Our site and products are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The current version is always published on this page with the date it took effect.
