Roof Space Australia
Warranty Policy
Every Roof Space rooftop tent, annexe and awning is covered by a two-year manufacturer’s warranty, on top of the guarantees you already have under Australian law.
Effective 12 August 2026 · Last updated 12 August 2026
1. Warranty period
| Product | Warranty period |
|---|---|
| Roof Space 2 and Roof Space 4 rooftop tents | 2 years from date of purchase |
| Family Base, Light Base and Light Awning annexes | 2 years from date of purchase |
| Accessories and replacement parts | 2 years from date of purchase |
| Consumables and wear items (see section 4) | Not covered |
The warranty period runs from the date shown on your Roof Space invoice or receipt, or from the date of purchase from an authorised Roof Space dealer.
2. Who is covered
This warranty is given by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (ABN [ABN]), trading as Roof Space Australia, [STREET ADDRESS], Central Coast NSW [POSTCODE], Australia, and covers the original purchaser of a product bought new from us or from an authorised Roof Space dealer in Australia. It is not transferable and does not apply to products bought second-hand or from unauthorised sellers.
3. What is covered
We warrant that, under normal recreational use and with reasonable care, the product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the warranty period. That includes:
- Defective stitching, seams and fabric coating.
- Faulty zips, buckles, poles, hinges and gas struts.
- Defects in the shell, base board or mounting hardware.
- Manufacturing defects in the ladder and its locking mechanism.
4. What is not covered
- Normal wear and tear, including fading, chalking of the shell, abrasion and gradual loss of water repellency.
- Condensation. Condensation inside a tent is a normal function of temperature, humidity and ventilation, not a defect.
- Mould, mildew or odour caused by packing the tent away wet or storing it damp. Always dry the tent fully before closing it for storage.
- Damage from incorrect installation, incorrect torque on mounting hardware, or use of mounting components we have not approved.
- Damage from exceeding the stated occupancy or load limits, or from driving with the tent open or unsecured.
- Damage from storms, hail, extreme wind, flood, fire, accident, theft, vandalism or animals.
- Damage from harsh chemicals, solvents, pressure washing, or cleaning methods contrary to our care instructions.
- Any modification, alteration or repair not carried out or authorised by us.
- Commercial use, including hire fleets and rental operations, unless we have agreed in writing.
- Consumables and wear items such as guy ropes, pegs, tension straps and travel covers, unless faulty on arrival.
- Cosmetic marks that do not affect the product’s function or weather resistance.
5. Care and maintenance
Keeping to these basics protects both your tent and your warranty:
- Dry the tent completely before packing it away. If you have to pack up wet, open and air it within 24–48 hours.
- Ventilate the tent while sleeping to reduce condensation.
- Clean with cold water and a soft brush only — no detergents, solvents or pressure washers.
- Check mounting bolts and rack fittings before every trip and re-torque as needed.
- Close and secure the tent, ladder and cover before driving.
- Reproof the fabric periodically with a product suitable for polycotton or the fabric specified in your manual.
6. How to make a warranty claim
Email sales@roofspace.com.au with the subject line “Warranty claim” and include:
- Your name and contact details.
- Proof of purchase — your Roof Space order number, or the dealer invoice.
- The product model and serial number (found on the label inside the tent).
- A description of the fault and when it appeared.
- Clear photographs, and a short video if the fault involves movement or operation.
We will assess your claim, usually within 2 business days, and may ask for more detail or arrange an inspection by us or an authorised dealer.
7. Remedies
Where a claim is accepted, we will, at our option and within a reasonable time:
- Supply a replacement part and, where practical, instructions to fit it;
- Repair the product, or arrange repair through an authorised dealer;
- Replace the product with the same or an equivalent model; or
- Refund the purchase price.
Repaired or replaced items are covered for the remainder of the original warranty period. Where a replacement model is no longer available, we may supply the closest equivalent current model.
8. Costs
You bear the expense of claiming this warranty — for example, the cost of returning the product to us if we ask you to. Where a valid claim is accepted, we will reimburse reasonable, pre-approved freight costs. Please contact us before arranging any freight or third-party repair; unapproved costs are not reimbursed.
Where a failure amounts to a failure of a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to have those costs met regardless of this clause.
9. Australian Consumer Law
The benefits given by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies available to you under the law in relation to the goods. Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
